Tell us what you love most about living in Mandurah!

This competition has now closed and our winner was Robyn Lister from Halls Head. Thanks to everyone who entered and shared with us what they LOVE about Mandurah! We have included a selection of entries below.

"A place where the sun rises and sets over the ocean. Where the weather supports recreating in the natural environment. Waking up to the sound of the estuary lapping against the shore. Watching pelicans perch on the jetty and then suddenly fly off to join the feeding frenzy when the dolphins herd fish into the canal. Walking under the old bridge to chat with the locals about their catches of the day. Having dolphins swim alongside you while sailing. Walking along the foreshore and sampling the many food, picnic & entertainment spots. The diverse waterways for every imaginable water sport from thrill seeking, jet skiing or kite surfing to picturesque canoeing and lazy sailing. A place that celebrates and encourages families and community to come together for special events such as fireworks & Crabfest."

Robyn Lister, Halls Head

“I love Mandurah because of the great people, and the beautiful natural and built environment. Mandurah has just been acknowledged as one of the most liveable cities in the world as part of the international LivCom Awards. This recognition came because of the community participation and environmental best practice, the way we plan our city, the healthy lifestyle people enjoy, and the vibrancy of arts and culture. We have the advantages of a city whilst enjoying the benefits of a thriving region. This is a great place to live.”

Paddi Creevey, Mayor, City of Mandurah

"For me, it's all about the lifestyle. We have the big open spaces, the waterways as well as the convenience of a vibrant, modern, well serviced city. The people are friendly, there's so much activity here all year round, and it's such a wonderful community. My family wouldn't live anywhere else than Mandurah and the Peel region."

Wendy, Halls Head

"My family and I love swimming and snorkelling in the ocean, kayaking on the estuaries and walking and cycling in stunningly picturesque locations. We are spoilt with wonderful eateries and, most surprisingly for a city this size, top quality cultural activities on offer right here too."
Deidre, Falcon

"My husband and I travelled around Australia seeking the most pleasurable lifestyle for our retirement. Mandurah was our choice - a town that provided everything that we desired for a paradise during our remaining years. The “ultimate lifestyle” for raising a family, or single, or retired."
Carol Ann, Mandurah

"The combination of urban and waterside life is beautifully balanced. Responsible development has brought a variety of waterside living allowing us to take advantage of our unique position on the West coast to enjoy long light evenings and the awesome sunset enabling us to appreciate the outdoor life. Really, it would be easier to ask 'why wouldn’t you love living in Mandurah?'"
Graham, Dudley Park

"Mandurah (a meeting place), lives true to its name. It is a modern, multicultural, fast-growing, welcoming city while retaining its small-town feel. Where else can you have state-of-the-art clubs and recreational facilities, an up market beautiful CBD and still be just minutes from the water? We are fortunate to have a magnificent coast-line and a fantastic estuary, rivers and lakes close-by with the hills just a short drive away.  The community-feel is amazing, lovely restaurants and wineries. Perfectly situated close to the touristy South West region, we indeed are fortunate to be a part of this lovely little city, a meeting-place where modern Australia meets its traditional counterpart!"
Mahesh, Halls Head

"We have a yacht at the best marina in Australia, so we do lots of fishing and sailing on Mandurahs’ beautiful waterways."
Janet, Madora Bay

"I love the ocean, but I also love parks and wetlands.  Mandurah, surrounded by ocean and estuary is perfect.  The fact that it also has a slight feel of a small country town makes it my ideal place to live.  I'm also lucky enough that from where I live, I can walk to almost everything I need.  And to top it off we have the wonderful Old Bridge which is a great meeting place on a hot summer's evening, to chat with friends and strangers about what they're catching.  Why would I live anywhere else?"
Anne-Marie, Halls Head

"It always feels like u are on holiday living here, the foreshore, beach, canals, parks, sports, movies, cafes and restaurants. Not a huge population which makes it a cosy coastal town with all the shops you could need! :) And it’s so dog friendly!"
Chloe, Halls Head

"Mandurah is my home.  But every day you wake I get excited to get out of my house because I always feel like I'm on a holiday that never stops.  A great choice of fantastic beaches that are inviting and clean. A foreshore that's great for catching up and socializing at the cafes, or just chilling with the family and friends using the BBQs that are plentiful. I love Mandurah."
Michelle, Halls Head

"I love living in Mandurah because it is in the middle of the beautiful southern wine region and the hustle and bustle of Perth, the beaches are idyllic, the restaurants are first class, it’s a family friendly place to be especially during those beautiful warmer days on the Mandurah foreshore sharing some local fish and chips. Mandurah is coastal, relaxing, loads of employment and beautiful, what’s not to love about Mandurah!"
Jasmine, Dudley Park

Close to beaches, rivers and shops. Great place to bring up my son as there are many parks and play areas. Kristy, Greenfields.

Mandurah’s town centre foreshore appeals most to me.
A meeting place for all to see.
I love lying on the green grass in the shade of a tree.
The warm evenings are especially nice with fireworks that glitter more than twice.
The fig trees are grand and the dolphins play near the shallow sand.
Pelicans are happy to greet you for a treat.
I would ask where else can you find such a place that is this unique.
Yep… Mandurah’s for me. Nick, Halls Head
